چکیده

Despite of a lot of efforts and interesting results, accretion disk theory is still under development and there are several unknowns: specifically, all available models are in the steady state approximation. In this letter, we investigate unsteady motion, beginning with shock wave–turbulence interaction. Indeed, unsteady flow allows this type of interaction, which in turn results in substantial changes in the accretion disk structure, enlarging the region where it is possible that the plasma reaches the thermal temperature. Shock wave–turbulence interaction can also explain the supersonic motion in the boundary layer, without violating causality and introducing particular assumptions on the viscosity. keywords: accretion, accretion disks – shock waves – turbulence – novae, cataclysmic variables

Calculation of the relativistic bulk tensor and shear tensor of relativistic accretion flows in the Kerr metric.

In this paper, we calculate the relativistic bulk tensor and shear tensor of the relativistic accretion ows in the Kerr metric, overall and without any approximation. We obtain the relations of all components of the relativistic bulk and shear tensor in terms of components of four-velocity and its derivatives, Christoffel symbols and metric components in the BLF. Then, these components are deri...

On the atmospheric fragmentation of small asteroids

It is known, from observational data recorded from airbursts, that small asteroids breakup at dynamical pressures lower than their mechanical strength. This means that actual theoretical models are inconsistent with observations. In this paper, we present a detailed discussion about data recorded from airbursts and about several theoretical models. We extend and improve a theory previously outl...

Relativistic and Non-Relativistic Shock Acceleration in Various Objects

The acceleration of energetic charged particles at relativistic and nonrelativistic shock waves plays an important role in powering esztablished and potential cosmic TeV-gamma-ray sources as supernova remnants, jets of active galactic nuclei and gamma-ray bursts. We therefore review some recent results on non-relativistic shock acceleretion and describe the current standing of the theory for re...

General Relativistic Magnetohydrodynamic Simulations of Black Hole Accretion Disks

Observations are providing increasingly detailed quantitative information about the accretion flows that power such high energy systems as X-ray binaries and active galactic nuclei. Analytic models of such systems must rely on assumptions such as regular flow geometry and a simple, parameterized stress. Global numerical simulations offer a way to investigate the basic physical dynamics of accre...

With the fundamental stress mechanism of accretion disks identified—correlated MHD turbulence driven by the magneto-rotational instability—it has become possible to make numerical simulations of accretion disk dynamics based on well-understood physics. A sampling of results from both Newtonian 3-d shearing box and general relativistic global disk MHD simulations is reported. Among other things,...
